Academic qualification :-

Educated in Convent School, Sentul and Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur.

Graduated from the University of Malaya in 1970 with a B.A. Honours degree, specialising in Geography

Sent by government to attend a Management Development Program (MDP) at the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom in 1981
 
 
Work Experience: -

Started my career in the Malaysian Civil Service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in August 1971 as Assistant Secretary (Administration) in the General Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department.

Transferred to the Public Complaints Bureau in the Prime Minister’s Department as Principal Assistant Director from 1975 to 1977.

Worked in the Buildings Division of the Public Works Department as the Administrative Officer from 1978 – 1980

Posted to the Ministry of Works Finance Division as the Principal Assistant Secretary from 1981 – 1985

From May 1985 posted as Under-Secretary to the Ministry of Transport’s Finance Division and then as Director/Under-Secretary of the Maritime Division in the Ministry of Transport from September 1992 until August 1997.

Served as the General Manager of Port Klang Authority from September 1997 till present.
 

 
Career in Port Klang:-

Measures taken to enhance Port Klang’s image both locally and internationally as follows:-

Held “Open Day” in Port Klang to introduce the Port to all walks of life – the public.

Organiser/Host for International Conferences held annually as follows:-

1998 - Asean Ports Association (APA) Main Committee Seminar and Exhibition held in Shah Alam.

1999 - International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) World Conference held for the first time in Malaysia at the Palace of Golden Horses and The Mines.

2000 - Asean Ports Association (APA) Sports Meet in Shah Alam,  Selangor.

2001 - World Dredging Congress (WODCON) held in Subang Jaya wherein Port Klang Authority was chosen as the Secretariat for the Eastern Asia Dredging Association (EADA) to replace Brisbane, Australia.

2002 - Terminal Operators’ Conference (TOC) held for the first time in Kuala Lumpur.

2003 - Onwards - development of sisterports agreement.

- Led Port Klang Authority to be the first port in Malaysia to achieve MS ISO 9002 certification for the Free Commercial Zone in Port Klang.

- Led Port Klang to win the coveted IAPH Gold Award for the application of IT.

- Successfully led LPK to receive the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM) Efficiency Service Award for 1999.

- Encouraged huge naval ships to berth in Port Klang to attract tourism to Malaysia via the port. The spillover effects of their coming to Port Klang contributes towards tourism Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

- Set up the first paperless FCZ for Manifests which superseded the program the Customs Department had envisaged in its application to make it paperless for Port Klang’s Community.

Chairman of the Asia Pacific MOU on Port State Control (PSC) for the term from 1994 – 1997

Chairman of IAPH Membership Committee (1999 – 2002)

Chairman of the Industry Standards Committee (Packaging and Distribution) under Sirim, Ministry of Science, Environment and Technology (1998 till 2001)

Chairman of APA Malaysia (1998 till 2003)

Chairman of Asean Ports Association (2004 – 2005)
