Asian
shipowners meet in Busan

Asian shipping
lines will meet in Busan,
today (28 May) to discuss wide
ranging issues affecting the
industry.
The 16th Asian Shipowners
Forum is expected to review
the performance and status of
the shipping industry,
including the impact of recent
surge in capacity affecting
the shipping market.
Malaysia’s delegation to the
two-day meeting is led by the
chairman of Malaysian
Shipowners Association and
will include 17 other national
shipowners associations.
The ASF meeting will be
preceded by an executive
committee meeting of the
Federation of Asean Shipowners
Associations.
Several other industry issues
relating to standards, safety,
security as well as related
matters on environmental
pollution of the seas, supply
of seafarers are expected to
feature in the agenda of the
CEOs from several shipping
companies in Asia.
The meeting will take a look
at the status reports
submitted by various
sub-committees such as safe
navigation and environment,
shipping economics review,
ship insurance and liability
and also on ship recycling.
